Dr. Andrew Maginn is a Visiting Assistant Professor of History at Sewanee: the University of the South and the founder and director of the Haitians Abroad Digital Archive. His research specializations are African Diaspora, Atlantic World, Latin American and Caribbean, and Digital Humanities.
Dr. Maginn’s research centers on examining the legacies of slavery in the Atlantic World, which include race, migration, human rights, social movements, racial disparities, and public memory. As a teacher-scholar, Dr. Maginn strives to create an inclusive environment that supports learning and fosters individual differences, using learner-centered teaching strategies to encourage student growth and critical thinking.
