About Andrew Wyatt Maginn

Andrew Maginn is the Senior Research Associate and Program Coordinator for the Roberson Project on Slavery, Race, and Reconciliation at Sewanee: the University of the South. A native of North Carolina, Andrew received his bachelor’s in American History from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian College, and his master’s in European History from North Carolina Central University. He recently received his Ph.D. in Latin American and Caribbean History from Howard University.

Andrew is trained as a scholar of Slavery and Emancipation. His research focuses on Haitian emigration in the Atlantic World during the long nineteenth century. Andrew engages with students and scholars through teaching, research, curriculum development, and public-facing projects.
